Summer Solstice 22 Newsline © Barton
In the UK, the longest day of the year is upon us, and summer has officially begun. Sailing regattas are in full swing across the Northern Hemisphere and headline events, like the famous Round the Island Race, are back for all to enjoy.

The giant Barton RYA Onboard paddleboards are out and about and it is great to see more and more images, and videos, being shared online by cruising sailors heading off on their boating adventures.  We love seeing them so please keep sending in your photos, especially if you have Barton gear onboard.  We will share the best on our social channels!

In this newsline, find out how to maximise the life span of your deck gear to keep your boating costs down, discover what's new in the dinghy market, watch our new Skydock video and much more!
The Barton Marine team is dedicated to providing sailors with a huge range of sailing hardware that stands the test of time, and at a competitive price point, leaves you change for a pub dinner or two during the season.  Whether looking to upgrade a complete hardware system, or replace individual worn-out parts with like-for-like, the Barton range has been trusted to control the power by thousands around the world for decades.

Like you, we are well aware of the current squeeze on budgets.  We stand with you as the cost of everyday essentials skyrockets and want to try and help keep you on the water with lower bills.  Well-maintained equipment will offer many years of service in the harsh marine environment, minimising the need to replace parts.

Its well worth spending time carrying out hardware checks and carefully cleaning gear on a regular basis, as this can save you money in the long run and prevent failure during a voyage.

As such we have put together a handy guide on what to look for and how to prolong the service life of your fittings accompanied by useful servicing videos and the details of spare service parts we offer.  Read the full guide here.
If you are struggling to find storage space around your house or workspace then SkyDock could be the solution!  Check out our new video below, as we played around lifting everything we could lay out hands on.  Find out more about SkyDock here.
New SkyDock means you have more storage space than you ever imagined.
The key to SkyDock is the SkyLock Block (part number N09411and this is now available as a standalone part for use when the full lifting system is not necessary.  We recently put a SkyLock block into action at SeaWork as an outboard engine lift.

Still able to lift loads up to 80kg, but better suited for those which do not require the balanced support provide by the full Skydock.  Perfect for small outboards, bikes, baskets, gym gear or anything else your imagination dreams up.

The Barton Marine team had a great time at the 2022 MTA Awards Dinner and were pleased to be able to support everyone working across the UK marine trades sector as a sponsor of the event.  Hosted on the 20th June, the night before Seawork opened, at the legendary Grand Café in Southampton, it was the first MTA awards dinner since 2019.

The evening saw the 2022 awards for MTA business of the year, personality of the year and chairpersons special award handed out, alongside Barton Marines very own David Coleman Excellence in Exporting Award presented to the winners from...

2019/20 - August Race
2020/21 - Rooster Sailing
2021/22 - Global Marine Business Advisors

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to the MTA Committee for organising a fab come back event!

We're seeing more and more pictures on social media of kids having a great time taking part in RYA Onboard events across the country.  It's excellent to see so many having fun on the Barton sponsored giant paddle boards and from the smiles on faces, they are having exactly the intended impact.  Allowing kids to experience the joy of messing around on the water and hopefully gaining a life long love for it.  These pics make our day! Find out more about RYA Onboard here.
Suzanne was recently interviewed by the Metstrade Team about our business, current supply chain issues, trends in the industry and of course the Metstrade show.  Read the full article here.

"The big positive is that many more new people are getting into boating. COVID restrictions opened their eyes to having fun and feeling safe out on the water. They suddenly had more time due to home working, which generated a boom for sailing, water toys, paddle boards, kayaks and powered boating. It was like a tidal wave. Our industry challenge now is to keep those newcomers interested in the boating lifestyle, ensuring they can afford it, stay safe and enjoy easy access to the water."
We are pleased to say that the late David Coleman, was posthumously awarded one of the first ever British Marine Honorary Membership Awards, recognising his exceptional past services to the organisation.  Suzanne was presented the award by former Shadow Chancellor, Ed Balls, at the British Marine and Boating Business Awards hosted during the National Conference earlier in the spring.
It is always exciting to discover the new products being launched into the sailing market and when it comes to dinghy gear, there is no better place to find them, than the dinghy show.  Christian managed to sneak away from our stand to zip around the show and catch up with friends from across the industry.  Click here to watch the video.
Johannes Li set sail on June 6th, aiming to become the youngest German to circumnavigate the Globe. Over the last six months he has restored a 32ft Nantucket Clipper, with the help of sponsorship and limited funds raised from working as an electrician. It has not been an easy task. The Barton Marine team have provided advice as well as products from the Barton range to help Johannes try and achieve his extraordinary dream.

Whilst we wait for his first sailing updates, read more about his journey on yachtsandyachting.com.
