WASZP UK National Championship at the WPNSA - Day 2

by Ross Banham 26 Jun 2022 22:59 NZST 23-26 June 2022

Day 2 of the Waszp Nationals saw high and gusty winds for the majority of the day. Nick Zeltner took three bullets in a row to claw his way closer to the current championship leader Ross Banham, whilst an unfortunate incident between Eliot Savelon and Sam Whaley saw them sidelined from racing. Sam managed to come back out onto the water later in the day to bring home a 2nd and an 8th in races 3 & 4.

A host of sailors have also been shining in the various divisions that run along side the overall championship. Leading since day one, Hattie Rogers has now opened up a commanding lead in the women's division. Ewan Wilson leads the junior division at the end of day two in 5th overall, just four points ahead of William Heathcote. Andy Bridgeman leads the apprentice division in 7th. Christian Smith leads the master's division with Geoff Carveth leading the super master division not far behind.

Sunday is the final day of the 2022 WASZP UK National Championships with the forecast once again looking windy. Should be a fun day!
