WASZP UK Slalom National Championship at the WPNSA

by Zac Blomeley 23 Jun 2022 21:58 PDT 23-26 June 2022

A great way to start the 2022 WASZP UK Nationals here in Portland at the WPNSA with 6-13 knots and over fifty WASZPs ready to go racing.

With the conditions being somewhat challenging, the race committee rolled through seven great slalom races, making for very exciting and close battles. With the pressure on the course varying between foiling or low-riding conditions it was tactical decisions from the sailors that won the day. Congratulations to Zac Blomeley for taking the overall win and to Ross Banham and Ewan Wilson for coming 2nd and 3rd respectively and to Hattie Rogers, 1st female.

Huge thanks to our new class sponsor, Rooster, for all the support, the race committee for a great first day getting so many races in tricky conditions, WPNSA for hosting the class, and all the sailors for making it such a special day one. Bring on the next three days of championship racing with champagne conditions.
