ARC Portugal: Adventures Inland

The first stop yesterday morning took us up the mountain of Santa Tecla. It is definitely the best way to see what is yet to come, Portugal. Across the Miño river they could vaguely spot between the clearing fog, the country of destination that does honour to our rally. The Castro de Santa Tecla is also a historical settlement of the Celtics that dates between 100BC and 100AD.

Galicia is not just about the seafood and the Albariño, it has also boasts great green inland scenery. The walking tour through the old mills (Muiños do Folon) in O Rosal was a perfect way to see the contrast of coast and mountain. ARC Portugal crews who joined the trip were then enjoyed a traditional Galician meal in the Restaurant Casa do Pintora, a little cottage at the end of the walk.

The start has been postponed to Wednesday due to the Southern winds that today are present in the west of the Iberian peninsula. Much better conditions tomorrow as the wind veers to the North for a pleasant sail to Povoa.

This start from Baiona makes it a rally with a complete fleet as those boats that joined from Galicia, now set sail under the ARC Portugal flag. 19 boats heading south and into the third country of the event. Gracias Baiona for everything and gracias to the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona, for having us once again.
