Share the fun of Sailing, June 20-26, during the 2022 #GoSailing Week

by Sail Canada 19 Jun 2022 07:56 AEST June 20-26, 2022

Canadian sailing enthusiasts from across the country are invited to celebrate their favourite sport during the 2022 edition of National #GoSailing Week to be held June 20-26.

Throughout the week, Sail Canada will be highlighting and showcasing the Canadian sailing community from coast to coast to coast as its members enjoy activities on waterfronts in many different ways.

Cheer for the Canadian team and register your sailing hours!

Sailors will be invited to cheer for their 28 Canadian athletes who will be in Germany to take part in the Kiel Week competition June 22-26.

To cheer them on, Canadian sailors will be invited to register online and log their sailing hours during Canada's #GoSailing Week. The objective will be to collectively reach 648 hours on the water to match the 6,000 km distance that separates Kingston, ON, from Kiel while sailing at an average speed of 5 knots. Sailors will be invited to record their time online at www.sailing.ca/gosailing.

As well, all Canadian sailors will be encouraged to post pictures of them and their family and friends while they are out on the water sailing, while also using the #gosailing hashtag and tagging Sail Canada (@sailcanada).

Among all participants who register their sailing hours, Sail Canada will draw two winners of a $100 voucher each from Fogh Marine/Fogh Boat Supplies.

Initiation to sailing

Sailing and sports organizations across the country are also invited to introduce kids to the sport of sailing not only on water, but also on dryland through different cool activities for kids, including drawing a sailboat. Resources are available on Sail Canada's Sailing for Kids page on our website at www.sailing.ca/sailing-for-kids.

Among all those who participate in the drawing contest, one lucky winner will receive an autographed picture of his/her favourite Tokyo 2020 Olympian. Download a model of the sailboat to draw at www.sailing.ca/sailing-for-kids and, once your drawing is finished, send it to communications@sailing.ca!

Introduction to sailing

Canadian families who have never tried sailing will be invited to experience it for the first time through different activities organized across Canada.

The full schedule is available at www.sailing.ca/gosailing.
