GryphonSolo2: Windless forecast leads to Prologue Race withdrawal

by Joe Harris, GryphonSolo2 15 Jun 2022 14:32 PDT

After a long look at the windless weather forecast, we have decided to withdraw from the prologue race and turn the motor on and head for Cascais, Portugal to get enough fuel to get to Morocco.

While it is never fun to withdraw from a race, we looked at the weather forecast and realized we could be out here for another 6 days or more and we need to be in Tangier getting prepared for the actual race. So that made the decision fairly clear, and we are now doing 6k through flat water and no wind and hope to get to Cascais before the fuel dock closes tonight. I think some other boats may be doing the same.

Will update after our pit stop.
