New Allen 40mm Flip Flop Block

Flip flop blocks are designed to pivot around a central fixing point, this keeps the rope close to the deck, mast or boom whilst still allowing the block to articulate to the correct lead angle, ensuring friction stays as low as possible whilst still guiding the rope to where it needs to go.

The new 40mm flip flop block range features a laser-cut stainless-steel body and backing plate, guaranteeing each one is finished to the exact same measurements and quality finish. This precision manufacturing style allows for maximum strength in the smallest form possible.

All three versions of the new flip flop block range include a 40mm dynamic sheave Twin rows of stainless-steel ball bearings running on a stainless-steel axle, with a nylon sheave to guide the rope.

The cam cleat versions feature two locations to install the dynamic sheave. Simply undo and remove the bolt holding the sheave in place and relocate it in either fixing hole on the main body. These two options allow the flip flop block range to be installed and used in a wider range of applications.

A clevis pin holds the main flip flop body to the backing plate. This clevis pin is the central flip flop /pivot point for the block. Removing the clevis pin will part the body and backing plate, allowing for easy access to the backing plate as well as giving the option to install the body either way up.

The backing plate has fixing hole centres of 60.3mm. This makes the range easily interchangeable with existing products on the market.

This new flip flop block range is ideal for use on many different classes of boats and in a wide range of applications:
  • Upgrade to J70 spinnaker halyard cleat.
  • F18, Nacra 17 spinnaker halyard cleat
  • Small keelboat pole launcher system.
  • Dinghy and small keelboat spinnaker or jib sheet turning point.
  • Dinghy jib sheet cleat.
  • Keelboat outhaul cleat.
  • Keelboat backstay system.

Maximum Working Load The 40mm flip flop block range is rated to a maximum working load of 150Kg. This is the load at which the Dynamic sheave will start to deform and will no longer work as designed.

Its important to remember, that this is the loading at the sheave, so for example, if used in a spinnaker halyard system the load of the spinnaker is shared between all the fittings in the system.
