Ten months ago a bundle of smart looking renderings set the scene for a wild and ambitious concept - Today it's the real deal, afloat and flying. And in putting theory into practice this Mark Mills designed keelboat foiler has triggered an important question, is this the start of offshore foiling?

To find out Matt Sheahan takes a close look at Flying Nikka's first sailing trials and talks to Mark Mills about how the first few days went and what the future holds.

In the latest edition of the popular PlanetSail:

  • A look at the opening event in Bermuda for Sail GP Season 3 and ask among other things, why the big guns aren't performing.

  • How one move may have changed the game for Olympic windsurfers and possibly everyone else on a flying sailboard.

  • Plus, the Kiwis roll their land yacht out of the shed for the first time and start their speed testing runs in Auckland.

  • And still there's more, a new IMOCA team is announced for The Ocean Race and Dee Caffari tells us about her new shorthanded project, plus there's a new Lego boat building project and another double helping of Docktalk.
