WASZP Games to include coaching within racing for beginners © WASZP Class

The all-inclusive nature of the WASZP fleet is on display once again. We have always seen events as the best way to accelerate the learning process for new sailors to the class.

With this in mind, the 2022 International WASZP Games will see an option for newcomers to the class and foiling to be coached while racing in their own fleet during the International WASZP Games in Garda. WASZP will be providing the coach for this purpose and more information will come.

With Gold and Silver fleets expected to be hotly contested and the standard at an all time high. WASZP wants to extend an invitation to all those sailors who want to just come and be part of the WASZP community and learn in a controlled environment. Those who wish to be coached will form a separate fleet on the racecourse and coaching will be allowed on that course. Come and be part of the 150-200 WASZP sailors who will descend on Lake Garda!

We have previously held beginner coaching camps prior to the event in the past and lifelong friendships have been made at these events. Given the length of the event we want to extend the opportunity to fleet racing, so people can fit it into their busy holiday schedules.

Stay tuned for more information, but get your entry in today!

If you would like more information or to register interest, please contact WASZP Class Manager Martin Evans -

On-site clinics and daily de-briefs

To add to the on-water experience, WASZP is also conducting clinics during the event: Andrew McDougall (Class Designer) will be on-site to conduct a rig/sail tuning clinic as well as a general boat maintenance clinic to get the most out of your boat.

The top sailors and coaches within the fleet will also provide some time at the daily de-brief session in an open forum, where competitors can ask questions and learn from the best.

If you have just purchased a WASZP or are new to the class there is no better place to learn and be part of the community. Your sailing holiday starts here! bring the family, bring your mates and enjoy everything Garda has to offer!

Early entries close June 1st!

With the European Games providing the perfect start to a jam-packed 2022 Season, we begin to turn our attention to the main event. The International WASZP Games will be the 3rd time sailors from all over the globe come together to race, socialise and go foiling in an absolute bucket list location.

Two years of postponements have not dampened enthusiasm, we can already see 90 entries from 17 nations for the event and we are still three months away from the start line. Early indications are that we will have over 20 nations represented and 180-220 men and women, boys and girls all competing against each other on the race track.

The community is something we have missed over the Covid break, however, the WASZP class has been brilliant at engaging sailors all over the globe, an absolute credit to the International Class and the community itself.

Diversity across the event will be a feature, with strong Masters contingents coming from the UK, Australia, Switzerland, Germany, France and Spain. These guys and girls love a party and we are sure to see the guitars coming out and beers flowing when this crew gets together.

The 16-25 age group is incredibly popular across the globe, spurred on by the SailGP INSPIRE program and the WASZP's ability to keep sailors engaged beyond their youth sailing has been a key driver. With strong representation from women in this age group, we could very well see our first female International WASZP Games Champion!

Either way, it is going to be incredible racing on the water, with some amazing talent in the fleet, a great social atmosphere off the water and an incredible opportunity for people all over the globe to experience the WASZP lifestyle first-hand.

Get your entries in now and lets make this massive!!
