2nd International Torbole Spring Cup at Circolo Vela Torbole - Day 2

by Elena Giolai 13 May 2022 16:22 PDT 12-15 May 2022

Second day with stronger winds up to approx. 18 knots and classification, which by Friday had delineated the fleets into gold and silver: from Saturday then the best will compete in the same battery.

In the ILCA 6 very short ranking between the first with as many as 3 athletes with 5 points (from second to fourth). In the lead was Antonio Pascali, followed by Frenchwoman Cervera (first woman) and Mattia Cesana. A fine comeback by the Italian Olympic representative for the women's single in Tokyo Silvia Zennaro, who after the recent maternity leave returned to the water on this occasion: a return in fine form as she placed first overall in the fourth race and is currently in a score parity with Chiara Benini Floriani (tenth and ninth place respectively).

Equal scores also in the ILCA 4 between Nicolò Cassitta and Croatian Leonardelli, first and second; first female Ginevra Caracciolo. Robert Scheidt laid down the law in the ILCA 7, leading by a margin of 9 points over second Attilio Borio (under 21); Scheidt placed 4 firsts out of 4 races. First provisional under-19 Roberto Rinaldi, tenth overall.

On Saturday, therefore, the final stages will begin, concluding on Sunday with the last two races. The organisation is challenging, managing the 512 athletes present and located between Circolo Vela Torbole, which is responsible for the general organisation of the event, and Circolo Vela Arco, which logistically hosts many participants. Also on Saturday the start is scheduled for 13:00
