Beautiful Australian 14 and International 14 vintage dinghies on display in Perth

by John Graham 11 May 2022 14:07 PDT

Last year, Anthony Anderson, a long time Victorian International 14 sailor, restored the 1972 Aus 14 TARGET. Formerly owned by Ray Hancock from Perth, it has won Australian 14' championships and was runner up in the 1979 World i14 Championships in San Francisco.

Recently Anthony acquired STREAKER, a UK International 14 built in 1971 by Bill McCutcheon on the Isle of Wight. It arrived in Perth a couple of weeks ago and was on display at Perth Dinghy Sailing Club and he and Brad Devine took it for a sail.

In the gallery of photos above you can see STREAKER alongside Brad Devine's BOCA DEL VISTA, the current Australian champ - it shows how far the 14 has developed in 51 years, and since the International 14 and Australian 14 amalgamation in 1996/7.

STREAKER is on the way to Melbourne and is expected to be on display with TARGET at various wooden boat regattas and probably at the International 14 Australian Championships after Xmas at Black Rock Yacht, Club.

Both TARGET and STREAKER are magnificent examples of wooden boats that fiberglass cannot replicate.

STREAKER is Anthony's 20th 14, and he still races his 18th 14' JOKER.
