The innovative startup Northern Light Composites from Italy presents the first project for 2022: it is the concept of ecoracer 44, a 13,40 meters long sustainable racer signed by the designer Matteo Polli, result of the partnership with the Estonian project "Clean Energy" by Mati Sepp.

Ecoracer44 is a pure racer with innovative lines and a sustainable heart thanks to nlcomp's rComposite technology, which guarantees a sustainable end of life of the composite thanks to the use of thermoplastic resins, natural or volcanic fibers and the recyclable Atlas core by NMG Europe. Not only the boat composite is recyclable, but also the 4T Forte sails by Onesails can be recycled at the end-of-life thanks to the particular technology that uses a thermoplastic composite. In addition, the boat's engine is electric, assisted by a hydrogen fuel-cell generator.

The signature of Matteo Polli guarantees the performance of the boat in rating events and the results already obtained by the glass-fiber version "Clean Energy" boat, launched immediately before the last ORC World Championship in Tallin, make it clear that the premises are really interesting. The new 44" is the natural evolution of the first ecoracer prototype, presented in 2021 at the Genoa Boat Show and awarded with the Design Innovation Award, as well as a finalist of the World Sailing sustainability award.

Statement by Matteo Polli, ecoracer44 designer: "Being the size much larger than the Ecoracer25, the Ecoracer44 represented an even bigger challenge from the design point of view. Loads increase exponentially with size and stiffness demands on a racing boat are always at the highest standard so achieving these goals and watch the boat racing at the ORC worlds just days after the launch was a real pleasure. This clearly shows that the use of rComposite can be successfully applied to larger size yachts."

Statement by Mati Sepp, Clean Energy Project Manager: "It is really exciting for a sailor to have the opportunity to build and race on a boat that uses the most innovative technologies and the best engineers in the world. Our impression on the boat was really promising and in 2022 we plan to improve performance and reach the project targets. This boat is an important step towards the future both in terms of sustainability and performance in racing and allows us to look to the future with great enthusiasm."

Statement by Fabio Bignolini, nlcomp Chief Operating Officer: "The presentation of this new project is another step towards the future of sustainable racing yachts. Thanks to the partnership with the Estonian project "Clean Energy" by Mati Sepp we are able to include in our range a pure racer of 13,40 meters, which, thanks to the signature of Matteo Polli, will be among the protagonists of the B class in international ORC events. We are looking for an owner who will allow us to launch a new boat that uses the full green potential of the rComposite system in 2023 and demonstrate that you can be a protagonist in the main offshore events, even with a boat that respects the environment ".
