Luna Rossa and Panerai together for the 37th America's Cup

by Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli 5 Apr 2022 02:24 AEST

In the Luna Rossa team, winner of the PRADA Cup in the last America's Cup, Panerai found an ideal partner, an Italian counterpart exemplifying excellence in its field.

While Panerai is a well-known actor in the Swiss watchmaking sector, the brand's Italian heritage infuses its work with a standout design sensibility. Both aspects of the Panerai identity unite to forge a portfolio of uncompromising watches with a particular focus on instruments for aquatic adventures.

Since 2017, Panerai has created watches that take inspiration from the materials and technology used in the America's Cup and the majestic beauty of the yachting world. With the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa, the collaboration begins a new chapter. The limited-edition offering of 1,500 pieces will be available at Panerai boutiques and online at panerai.com.

The Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa exhibits a considered balance between elegance and sporty bearing. The 44mm steel case is engineered to withstand the rigors of ocean racing or any other active endeavor, while its restrained design and neutral, marine-inspired color palette of blue, white and red adapts to casual dressing in every environment.

With its patented crown protection device, rubberized crown and rotating unidirectional bezel, the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa is a diver's vital companion, prepared for sustained exposure to the intense forces of the underwater world. An improved date window at 3 o'clock and small seconds subdial round out the functions. They are set in motion by Panerai caliber P.900, an automatically winding movement with a three-day power reserve.

Light scatters across the sun-brushed blue dial with the barest movement, giving a brilliant sheen to the surface, while white Super-LumiNovaâ„¢ embedded within metallic appliques generates the glow of the dots, markers and hands. The dial features the team name to make abundantly clear the connection between the Luna Rossa and the handsome watch.

Water-resistant up to 30 bar (about 300 meters), the Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa features a dark blue bi-material strap accented with the red and white Luna Rossa logo and a second in the same ocean-inspired color and composed of recycled rubber. Also included is a tool kit to allow interchangeability of the straps and a screwdriver for removing the buckle.
