Northamptonshire Youth Series 2022 dates and venues

by Norman Byrd 24 Feb 2022 06:06 PST

The dates for this year's Northamptonshire youth series are now live! Despite concerns about low attendances last year due to Covid-19 we had 59 entrants with 20 of those being first timers. All boat classes are welcome (13 different classes last year).

We will be visiting 5 clubs across Warwickshire and Northamptonshire. The dates are:

The events are aimed at beginner to intermediate sailors, the emphasis is on participation more so than absolute performance.

The days kick off with coaching/training in the morning with sailors split into 3 groups, slow handicap, Topper 5.3 and fast handicap. In the afternoon 3 or more short, coached races are held before the host clubs try to outdo each other with a tea for all the sailors. There is always on the water support for all sailors during the racing.

There is a prize-giving at the end of every event plus an overall prize-giving at the last event. Draycote youth and junior fleet won the overall team prize last year. Will a different club hoist the trophy on the 17th September?

Sailors from all clubs are encouraged to enter, not just from the host clubs. We are particularly keen to welcome sailability sailors. Our trophies are engraved with world renowned names such as Giles Scott and Dylan Fletcher, why not try to join them!
