The fourth edition of SoloInteractive has just been released and this 56 page interactive magazine has some interesting articles.
Pre 2000 there was an abundance of brightly coloured Solos, owners with wooden built hulls were not restricted to the off white FRP versions which would become practical for the next 20 years. Selling a standard white Solo was/is pretty easy but having the conviction to get your new Solo gel coated in some of the brightest colours in the spectrum takes some courage. In this article we look back at some of the more famous Solo colour choices and fast forward to the latest off the shelf examples.
Clubs
The Sub 4000 club was set up by the members of Leigh on Sea S.C. as way to minimise costs and maximise enjoyment, thus the 4000 fleet were born. Now the club has over 20 vintage Solos, many of which were once the cutting edge of Soo design.
Interactive Club Focus
Grafham Water is a hotbed of talent right now and the fleet are full of Solo Champions, Ian Walters and Chris Brown to name just two. Ahead of the Inland Champs there later this year Chris provides us with a video article on the club and the sailors.
Hall of Fame
The Falcon and the Four Titles, not a book launch but a journey back to the eighties when Live Aid, Gorbachev and Nintendo were hot topics and Ken Falcon and his trusted Lovett 'Pogs' ruled the waves.
Archive
We also go back to 2005 when your favourite magazine Yachts & Yachting did a really cool article on the National Solo, thanks to Jeremy Evans and Y&Y of course.
Close Encounters of the Solo Kind part 3 - Interactive
Merlin Rocket sailor Oliver Turner got his hands on the Solo demo boat last year, he shares his experience with us.
We also have news on the new Demo Solo, links to all the big events and direct links to our advertisers who are also supporting the class through the year.
If you missed SoloInteractive 3 you can view it once you have read issue 4.
