Cat sailing on a Wildwind Holiday © WildWind http://www.wildwind.co.uk/

As you may know Wildwind Holidays operate an amazing sailing school on the windy Greek island of Lefkas with a fleet of over 70 cats and dinghies ranging from Hobie Dragoon to Tornados and Optimists to 49er with pretty much everything in between too.

You may have even visited Wildwind - back in 2001 they hosted the Hobie 16 European Championships there - with some gold fleet races with winds 25 kts+.

Wildwind has weathered the Covid storm quite well - we have managed to operate half of the 2020 season and almost all of 2021. But we are now faced with perhaps a bigger problem - the difficulties that Brexit is causing us with a much limited ability to employ British staff in Greece.

If you are:

  • An experienced sailor with high wind, catamaran or performance monohull experience
  • An EU passport holder
  • Available for a minimum of 12 weeks
Then read on and watch this video...

And as our clients have been usually about 50% British and 50% from mainly Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden and Italy we have usually taken on a lot of British students in the summer. And this year Brexit is making that very difficult.

Unfortunately, due to the disastrous effects of Brexit they are now having problems employing British staff many of whom were students to work at their base through the summer. As you might imagine, Simon Morgan, who founded Wildwind over 30 years ago and has been an avid Hobie 16 racer for nearly 40 years, was an ardent Brexit opponent and really could do with help in getting an invitation to experienced sailors within the EU preferably with some teaching experience to join the team in Vassiliki this year either for the full season (May 1 - Oct 10) or for a minimum of two months as a kind of working 'holiday'.

Wildwind guarantee an amazing experience for their staff as well as their clients; there aren't many places where you can try out such an amazing fleet of boats in truly excellent sailing conditions, not to mention the brilliant atmosphere on and off the water - and the fact that you are on a beautiful Greek island. What more do you want?

If you are interested or know anyone that might be interested could you get in touch with Joe Bennett, Wildwind's excellent beach manager and driving force behind the youtube Joyrider TV channel. Please send him an email with your details and he'll get back to you.
