2022 IKA Snow Kite World Cup Ukraine

by International Kiteboarding Association 25 Jan 2022 07:47 PST 19-23 January 2022

After a break of two years due to Covid, Kharkiv hosted the first stop of the 2022 IKA SnowKite WorldCup. Although the ongoing pandemic still has a significant effect on international travel, the event went on with Ukrainian riders dominating the event.

Four days of competition were blessed with clear skies and good wind, making it possible to run 13 course races, while the second competition day was dedicated to the long distance race.

Local favorite Dmytro Yasnolobov dominated the competition on skis, winning most of his races, but Volodymyr Yavorskiy and Maksym Skoryk had to really battle it out until the last moment, with Yavorskiy winning the last race and managing to end the competition in 2nd place, a mere point ahead of Skoryk.

Vadim Grushko dominated the snowboard division while Marina Shevchuk and Oksana Ivanova won the women's competition in skis and snowboard respectively.

The event wrapped up with an emotional closing ceremony. Kharkiv proved to be an amazing place for Snow Kite competitions. The 2022 IKA Snow Kite World Cup Ukraine was a well organized event with a lot of potential and already the event of 2023 is confirmed.
