The Mahurangi Regatta will proceed on Saturday January 29, less than a week after the declaration of a "Red Light" COVID status for all regions of New Zealand. It's a similar situation for the Auckland Anniversary Regatta next Monday - January 31, 2022.

The only change to the Mahurangi Regatta is that the official prizegiving cannot be staged in the traditional manner. Otherwise there are no changes to the historic event, which is one of the premier Classic Yacht regattas in the world.

Unfortunately due to the restrictions on gathering sizes, the Dragon Boats will no longer be able to participate in the Auckland Anniversary Regatta, which is hugely disappointing for this fleet which always puts on a great show in the Viaduct.

However, it is expected that the remainder of the regatta will still be able to go ahead, with racing options for classic and modern keelers, tugboats and classic launches, Waka Ama, centreboard and foiling classes, and even radio controlled yachts.

The 420 class will compete in the regatta, with the fleet racing at Murray's Bay Sailing Club, along with the 29ers (previously scheduled at Takapuna). Check the latest Notice of Race for updates as of 20 January 2022, and the Sailing Instructions too.

Entry fees are low at just $40 per boat for yachts, launches and tugboats, and even lower for other classes. Plus there are cash prizes to be won in all divisions, along with a coveted historic trophy collection, and some amazing spot prizes from AAR's generous sponsors.
