Frequently Asked Questions

Here's what you need to know about the GKA Kite World Tour:

Q: How can riders register?
A: Riders can register directly through the GKA world tour website on the dedicated event page. Registration will open 2 months prior to an event and will close three weeks before the event.

Q: Who can enter?
A: Choosing participants for the GKA World Cup events is based on the rulebook for the respective discipline. A decent competitive kiting level is required to be able to enter a World Cup event. If you have never participated in a World Cup and would like to apply for a spot in a GKA event, potential competitors can apply for a wildcard entry through the video application page on the GKA website.

Once the rider is accepted they will need to complete the registration steps.
The registration fee per event is €125.

Q: What disciplines are in the Kite World Tour?
A: The GKA will run competitions in the disciplines of Hydrofoil Freestyle, Freestyle, Kite-surf and Big Air.

Q: What's the Big Air World Championship?
A: The GKA Big Air World Championship will be run as a World Sailing Special Event and will therefore be the only official Big Air World Title in Kitesports. The official Big Air World Champion will be crowned in the disciplines of twin-tip, strapless and hydrofoil. The 2022 Big Air World Championship is scheduled for June 20-July 6th in Tarifa, Spain

Q: Is there a maximum number of participants per World Cup?
A: Maximum number of competitors for a World Cup event in 2022 will be 28 riders per gender and discipline.

The final Race Notice with all details will be published one month before the start of the event.

*Nothing is set in stone and we appreciate your flexibility as rules, formats and events need to be updated.
