Pip Hare, who needs very little introduction as the 8th woman in history to complete the Vendee Globe, will be the first big name to open the inaugural show. On day one, Thursday 17 February 2022, the celebrated sailor will officially open the show to visitors and the media before joining Mark Covell on the show stage. Pip and Mark will chat about her experiences, motivations and how Pip's boating journey started from the landlocked East of England.

Richard Dove, BoatLife Events Ltd, commented, 'There was only one choice for us. Pip's a great advocate for boating and captures the hearts of so many people. We are delighted she will be at the show to kick start what will be a jam-packed event.'

Pip Hare commented 'I'm honoured to be opening the BoatLife Live show. I really want to help encourage as many people as possible to get out on the water and experience the freedom of sailing, boating or whatever you choose to do. So I'm delighted to be able to welcome people to what promises to be a great celebration of boats and boating.'

The show is also running a competition on social media to give one lucky person, group of friends or family, the chance to win the opportunity to participate in the opening. BoatLife Live is a show for everyone from experienced boaters to first time water users. The competition is a great chance for everyone to get involved. To apply, BoatLife is asking followers to create a short one minute video to share why they should open the show. Show exhibitor, Freedom Boat Club, has provided a fantastic prize for the winners, a skippered boat trip and lunch in Portsmouth. More info
