Despite being hard at work all day at Performance Boating, Lee Condell has been kind enough to share a few thoughts on the state of play inside the Two-Handed Division.

The inaugural year for them has seen exceptional interest from all over the globe, as backed up by the super-high readership across Sail-World’s seven geo-located sites. If you have not done so already, please see Double and Everything and also Double Down and More.

Condell commented, “Today has been all about light air running, so you can see that the two-handers having been gybing downwind, and staying relatively close to the rhumbline.”

“While the Class 40, Sidewinder, with Rob Gough and John Saul on board remains in front for Line Honours by a healthy 22 nautical miles, the J/99, Disko Trooper sailed by Jules Hall and Jan Scholten, remains the firm leader under IRC, though the tracker had a hick-up and showed them last for about 12 hours.”

“Behind, and in close proximity are Shane Connelly and Graeme Dunlop on the J/99, Rum Rebellion, along with the First 34.7, Speedwell, and also the Sydney 36, Salt Shaker with Peter Franki and Drew Jones on board. At the back of the group, but doing extraordinarily well the S&S 34, Crux. It’s still anyone’s race between these four, but another transition tonight may bring them closer to Jules and Jan on Disko.”

So still all to play for, but if they do end up with some pressure reaching, you would have to think that Salt Shaker would make some gains.”

Stay safe, thanks for tuning into Sail-World.com, and all the best for 2022.
