Last weekend the Datchet Flyer, and this weekend ten British 420s are now beating those winter and end of term blues and competing in the Palamos Christmas Race on the Costa Brava.

A couple of days pre-event training in light winds expertly led by Tim Rush has provided excellent preparation for the team and day 1 kicked off with some excellent results for our sailors.

It is a big regatta with 120 Lasers, twenty 470s as well as the 420 fleet.

Conditions were tricky, just what those who regularly sail in the Mediterranean like and those that the Brits often find difficult.

In the 420s Alice Davis and Oliver Rayner lead the 95 boat fleet overnight. Racing continues until Wednesday.

Results are on the event website: www.christmasrace.org/en/default/races/race-resultsall
