The US ILCA Radial Squad completed a challenging World Championship in light wind.

The conditions tested competitors' patience and mental readiness throughout the 11 races as the race committee expertly navigated postponements and watched for building breeze.

Final results:

  • 40th - Lilly Myers
  • 43rd - Christina Sakellaris
  • 55th - Hallie Schiffman

"It was tough getting back into a large fleet with really strong competitors," said Schiffman. "But we know what we need to work on as a squad and I'm already excited for the next opportunity to race the international fleet."

"This event was great for the Radial Squad," said Tunnicliffe. "We didn't necessarily get the results we wanted. The girls were fast through the water. They started to get a really good handle on starting in big fleets by the end of the regatta. We had solid moments on the racecourse that are all vital pieces of the puzzle. Eventually that gets us to our end goal, and that's a great takeaway."

Next, the squad will take the rest of December off to relax before their 2022 training kicks off with the January US Sailing Team High Performance Camp in Miami.
