Dozens of community groups from Rockhampton, Gladstone and Bundaberg recovering from the impact of the pandemic have received a welcome boost in funding thanks to Gladstone Ports Corporation's (GPC) Community Investment Program.

This year more than $115,000 worth of funding from GPC has supported such areas as educational projects, critical care and non-for-profit charities providing community services.

Some of the funding recipients include Gladstone's Special Olympics, The Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards, Central Queensland Special Children's Christmas Party, Guide Dogs Queensland Volunteer Trolleys, Calliope River Men's Shed and Cancer Patients Foundation.

Last month, GPC also donated almost $15,000 worth in flight helmets to support LifeFlight's pilots and medical crews in Bundaberg and Rockhampton.

Chief Operating Officer Craig Walker said GPC is proud to support community services with critical funding and training resources.

"Our local community services are in need of support from the community more than ever after enduring the impacts of Covid," Mr Walker said.

"During the 2020/2021 financial year, GPC's community investment program provided grants and donations of $115,396 to support 20 worthy community groups," he said.

"It is a privilege for GPC to be in position to support the important groups benefiting from the program and using the funding on projects to enhance the thriving communities in which we operate,"

"From art awards, to school bursaries and youth services - the funding is so important to these groups and individuals whom make our communities a better place for us all,"

"We have a rich history of providing in-kind support, such as educating and resourcing in areas such as school engagement, science and marine awareness programs, provision of bursaries to Gladstone, Rockhampton and Bundaberg high schools and facilities for such organisations as the Gladstone Maritime Museum,"

"At GPC, we are home to more than 750 of our employees who work and live in the region with their extended families and friends."

GPC's grants and donations category caters for community groups and organisations looking for assistance with an event, small project or purchase of equipment.
