Storm Trysail Club is back hosting their annual spring Hands-On Safety At Sea seminar.
After the successful return to in-person Hands-On Seminars this Fall, Storm Trysail Club will resume hosting their annual Safety-At-Sea Seminar in May at SUNY Maritime.
"Storm Trysail Club continues to build on the success of past seminars and remains one of the few opportunities to actually get on the water," says Commodore Ed Cesare. "This event follows a tested interactive curriculum where attendees are using fire distress flares, putting out fires, learning damage control, setting storm sails, and physically rescuing a person overboard."
If you are interested in doing the Newport Bermuda Race or any other major offshore event, make sure you and your crew have the required training. Newport-Bermuda already has 160 boats signed up for the 2022 race, so we expect a massive amount of demand for a limited number of slots.
By attending this course and viewing the Storm Trysail's Video Library, participants will earn the "US Sailing Offshore Safety at Sea" certification. If you would like to earn the "International Offshore Safety at Sea with Hands-on Training" certification, you must visit US Sailing directly to sign up for their 15 Chapter Online Course, in addition to registering and participating in our hands-on training. Please note, if you are "refreshing" your ISAF certificate, you will need to take US Sailing's online units 11-15, a newly launch component of the course.
