The San Diego Yacht Club's incredibly popular PHRF pursuit race event called the Hot Rum Series just started this past weekend.
In general, J/Crews sailed well in most all classes they were sailing in.
In twenty-four boat PHRF 1 Division. Ernie Pennell's J/145 MORE MADNESS took third place amongst the fleet that had a slew of TP52s and Santa Cruz 70s. Tough class!
The twenty-five boat PHRF 2 Division, it was not surprising to see the two top J/120s in San Diego occupy slots on the podium. Taking the silver was John Laun's CAPER and the bronze went to Chuck Nichol's CC RIDER.
The huge thirty-five boats PHRF 3 Division saw no J/Teams in the top five, a first in years! The usual suspects in the J/105s could only manage mid-fleet finishes.
The nineteen-boat PHRF 4 Division saw a few good performances by J/Crew. Taking fourth place was the J/34 IOR MARLEN, sixth was Tim Lynch's J/30 RUFFIAN, and ninth was Chuck Bower's J/29 RHUMB RUNNER.
