Just 2 boats the previous week with 4 guys and now one week on, 3 boats with the same 4 guys at the lake side. Tony was able to sail along with Eric and John this time, as with only a big sail and light winds, it would work.

A look around and a guess to see if the wind favoured a direction up or down the lake and Eric and John were on the water. It was again one of those cross winds from a sort of Southerly side. Tony was assisting John and Bob was helping Eric out. Half way along it looked like John had it made. Although his boat was somehow pinning itself to the far bank. Eric's had straggled through the 'avoid this zone area', but was still on course and eventually made it through to the end. John returned the favour and received a valid 2 points on the return journey.

Next up was John and Tony with Eric sitting out on a bye. Getting through the first half of the lake looked the easiest bit, although still very challenging. Tony chose to sail across to the far sand bank, while John chanced the straight through the middle approach and hoped not to be drawn to the near bank, as it looked like there was nothing there. Tony got the three points so it looked like it was going to be an interesting day. John again secured another 2 point return to keep him on track.

Eric and Tony sailed against each other for the next heat, with Tony winning going out, even though his boat 'The Spirit of John' was very low lying at the back end, maybe it was slowly sinking. Returning, Eric scored another 2 points to add on the somewhat damp card.

Another round was sailed with points and choices swapped around with winds to confuse.

John was again able to win the day, but there was not too much difference in the overall scoring to have made it a run away.

Thanks again to Bob and Peter for helping on the day and preparation with score cards etc...

Results:

1 John Sharman 11 points
2 Eric Austwick 10 points
3 Tony Wilson 9 points

Next weekend 30th and 31st the last weekend of October to look forward to. Vane Marblehead Championships. With already 11 entries and some superb looking boats from the past.
