HD Sails/Ceildeh Phantom Midland Traveller Series Finale to be held at Burton Sailing Club

Burton Sailing Club will be hosting the final event of the Phantom Midland Traveller series this year.

The series, originally compiled as a five event series has had one event cancelled due to Covid restrictions on travel, the ever-popular Bowmoor Sailing Club open in April, which has unfortunately not been able to be rescheduled. Therefore the amended series has now a three from four to count with all to play for on the final open meeting at Burton.

Currently, with no discards in play, only one point separates the top two places with Charley Chandler (Bowmoor S.C.) leading the pack. But once the fourth and final event kicks in the all-important discard, everything could change with several sailors in with a chance of taking the overall title.

The Inland Championship, held at Northampton Sailing Club, formed part of the Midland series which has boosted the total number of series participants this year to 41 so far, but has also seen a consistent cohort of local midland sailors too.

Burton Sailing Club is new to the circuit this year and with its eight home club boats we are looking forward to a bumper entry. Its location is ideal to tempt those who have not yet travelled to cut back the grass from around their road trailers, pump up the tyres and yes... feel the wind in your hair, as you break free from the shackles of your club grounds and TRAVEL! Join in the series and meet other local sailors, it might be infectious (no pun intended!).

Burton is very near to other clubs in the midlands, close to the M6 and M1, which should make it a tempting opportunity for some of the northern contingent to make that long journey south as well!

Entries will be taken on the day with the NOR and SI now on the club website:

Our thanks to HD Sails and Ceildeh carbon masts for their continued support and kind sponsorship of the series. The branded tee-shirts have been a massive hit this year with offers to buy them - sorry they can only be won!
