Briefings October 6, 2021

An earlier edition of Briefings should have referred to Earle Wells in the introduction. We regret the error and apologise for any distress or confusion caused.

New Zealand's marine industry has lost three big names over the last few weeks. You might remember we featured a story on Jack Lloyd in the last Briefings newsletter and in this one we have stories on America's cup winning designer Laurie Davidson and Olympic champion Earle Wells who both passed away in the last week. All three played key roles in the development and success of our sport and will be missed. Our thoughts go to their family and friends.

We also bring you the first instalment of winners for this year's Volvo Yachting Excellence Awards - the Service Awards and Cruising Award - as well as a bumper edition of Regional Roundup, which shows you how much activity is going on around the country (apart from the Auckland region unfortunately) as the new season gets under way.

As always, let us know if you've got any news or suggestions by emailing michaelb@yachtingnz.org.nz.
