Fantastic to see thirty RS Aeros out at Rimini alongside the Open Skiffs for a three day event on the Adriatic Sea. Sailors from Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK joined the Italians.
Three beautiful days of sport animated the Rimini coast, which hosted the fourth stage of the National Open Skiff Circuit and the eighth stage of the RS Aero Nationale Italiano Series.
About one hundred athletes at the start who faced the sporting event characterised by beautiful days with wind from 10 to 13 knots that made the regattas really competitive and with uncertain results until the last race.
At least, this is what happened in the RS Aero 7 where Filippo Vincis (LNI del Sulcis) from Cagliari, Sardinia, won the victory only at the end of the last day, ahead of Giulio Sirolli (Tognazzi Marine Village).
On the last day Vincis managed to take home three first places that allowed him to reach the Roman athlete who had managed to bring home an equally brilliant result on the first day. The "overtaking" took place in the eighth with Vincis who finished in front of Sirolli by three positions, thus winning the top of the final standings. Among the Masters victory of Attilio Dall'Agnola (CV Torbole) who got the better of the class president Guido Sirolli (Tognazzi Marine Village).
In the RS Aero 5s Elias Nonnis (LNI del Sulcis) took the overall win with five first places ahead of a tie for second place with Roy Van Maanen (Greystones, IRL) taking the second and Filippo Michelotti (CV Arco) in third. Sara Murru (LNI del Sulcis) finished first female in fourth.
