The 40th running of the Hamble Winter Series will commence on the weekend of 2nd & 3rd October 2021. Sponsored once again by Hamble Yacht Services the main eight week series will start with two races on Sunday 3rd October.

Before that, the Hamble One Design Championship will kick off on Saturday 2nd October and the plan is for 6 races to be completed over two days. There will be three classes in this first OD weekend.

The ubiquitous J70s will be leading the way as the first class to start, but this year they will not be followed by the SB20s, who are having a lie down after their Nationals in Torquay last weekend. We look forward to seeing the SB20s back for the second weekend. The J's will be joined in start area by two "new" classes. The Impala 28's will be holding their Solent Championship and have managed to muster nine boats. Also turning out is the reviving Hamble Nordic Folkboat class. They had four boats at the recent Hamble Classics event and they have managed to increase that number to five. Their intention is to make this an annual event.

This year the HYS Hamble Winter Series is partnering with Wetwheels Hamble for the duration of the event. Launched in 2016, Wetwheels became the third regional operator for the national disability power boating charity the Wetwheels Foundation. The Wetwheels experience is designed to give every disabled person the chance to experience the excitement of power boating. Wetwheels will be the CV for the event and HWS will contribute to this very worthwhile cause. Competitors and indeed anyone else can donate here: www.justgiving.com/campaign/wetwheelshamble

Last but by no means least, the day sponsor for the first Sunday will be the MTM Agency (themtmagency.com). Based in Saxon Wharf, Southampton, MTM is an integrated marketing and digital agency. They will be providing the prizes for the first three boats in each class (so long they come to the clubhouse!) and wait for it - the offer of a small gift for every boat that is racing!
