Following the directions of the Federazione Italiana Vela, the postponement of the Barcolana registrations, as per tradition will now again close the day before the regatta, Saturday October 9th - registrations must still be made online. The pickup of the race numbers and gadgets will begin on October 1st from 9am to 7pm in the SVBG headquarters in Barcola.

On Friday the Official Opening of the Barcolana53 Presented By Generali - At both the headquarters of the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano and along the Rive of Trieste, the last preparations are taking place, seeing that as on Friday October 1st, with the raising of the flag scheduled at noon at the SVBG, the great celebration of Trieste will officially commence. During the early afternoon of October 1st, the central part of the Villaggio Barcolana, with its temporary stores and the spaces dedicated to the partners of the event, will open.

The Opening Conference - During the afternoon of October 1st, at the initiative of the Coast Guard of Trieste, the first institutional appointment will be held at the headquarters of the Port Authority with the conference "Trieste Marittima tra passato e presente", which marks the beginning of the new routes of this edition, drawing attention to its history and the Navy's role in the area.

Everything is also all set to go for the events held at sea, starting this Friday, with the Maxi regatta of Portopiccolo and the final stretch of the Melges Circuit. The registrations for the Barcolana Nuota are, however, closed with 283 participants ready for Sunday morning.

Melges 24 European Sailing Series @Barcolana - At the moment there are 17 boats registered for the final stretch of the Melges 24 European circuit organized, together with the Barcolana, by the Società Triestina Sport del Mare and the Italian and International Melges 24 class. The regattas begin on October 1st, and participating in this final race are crews belonging to five different nations: besides Italy, teams from Slovenia, Austria, Germany and the United Kingdom have already arrived in Trieste. The ranking on the day before the final stretch sees Arkanoè by Montura (Sergio Caramel) in the lead with 123 points, followed by Mellina (Paolo Brescia) and Altea (Andrea Rachelli). The races held in Trieste will decide who will get the title. As regards the "Barcolana atmosphere", the Melges will then remain for a week in Trieste so as to participate in the connecting regattas and finally in the Autumn Cup.

Portopiccolo Maxi Race 2021 @Barcolana - A dozen boats are registered at present for the Portpiccolo Maxi Race 2021 @Barcolana, the regatta dedicated to the largest yachts registered for the

Barcolana, organized by the Yacht Club Portopiccolo - in collaboration with the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano and the Società Nautica Pietas Julia ASD - which has also prepared an exclusive welcome for the crews and guests. The event has as its operating base the splendid location of Portopiccolo, where many events will be held over the next few days, starting with the exhibition by Carlo Borlenghi "Vento e Vele", to be inaugurated at the Portopiccolo Art Gallery. The Portopiccolo Maxi Race is considered by the more competitive yachts as a warm up for the Barcolana, an opportunity for the yachtsmen and skippers to test their equipment and face their main opponents. These teams of professionals are, in fact, assembling in Trieste during these days, preparing their equipment and working on their boats. The Portopiccolo Maxi Race 2021 @Barcolana foresees three days of regattas and therefore the chance to fully enter the Barcolana spirit.

Barcolana Nuota - The registrations have now closed to participate in Barcolana Nuota, the open water swimming race organized in collaboration with the Unione Sportiva Triestina Nuoto and, thanks to the support of Acqua Dolomia, Coop Italia and BIC, there will be 283 swimmers competing on Sunday October 3rd along the new route traced within the Bacino di San Giusto. The event is eagerly awaited, after having been put on hold last year due to the pandemic. Many are the novelties of this sixth edition: for the first time the starting points will be staggered, divided into three groups of 95 athletes each which, starting from 11.30am on Sunday October 3rd, will dive into the sea from the Scala Reale in front of Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia, and will follow a kilometre-long updated route, with the arrival point set, once more, in front of the Scala Reale. The award ceremony is scheduled for the same day, at 2.30pm in Piazza dell'Unità, and foresees medals for the first three classified in the male and female categories, and medals for the winners of every category based on their year of birth.
