Pacific Sailing School update: The legends continue

Private lessons have proven popular, with students keen to complete the Keelboat course syllabus in just three lessons.

With the expectation that mid-October will allow group lessons to resume, we are launching an exciting new " Harbour Explorer Series". These one day events focus on different skills and explore parts of the Habour you may not have visited previously by water.

The combined clubs Women's Series, which we won last year, is locked in and Wendy has again agreed to helm a student team.

The most popular event on our calendar, the annual Gosford Regatta has been rescheduled from the October long weekend to 28th and 29th November. The opportunity to participate in the offshore delivery and return, plus two days of racing, make this a not to be missed opportunity to experience one design racing.

Our Legends Series continues with our own Lisa Blair this Monday at 6 pm. Lisa is in the final planning stages for her solo around Antarctica adventure and will discuss the challenges facing her over the next three months, how she will overcome her fears and what motivates her to continue pushing despite all the adversities she faced in her prior attempt.

We have scheduled our free Monday Legends zoom chats for October. They run from 1815 to 1830 and I invite you to join us and (virtually) Work Less and Sail More.

Monday 11th October - Wendy Tuck The Maiden story

Dee Caffari MBE, Wendy Tuck and Nikki Henderson were recruited by Tracy Edwards MBE to skipper her iconic vessel, Maiden and embark on a new mission sailing around the world in a bid to raise awareness of the importance of girls' education.

Maiden gained acclaim as the first vessel to be sailed around the world by an all-female crew, in the Whitbread Round The World Race in 1989-90. Maiden and her glass ceiling shattering crew paved the way for all women, but particularly those in the yachting world, including her new skippers

Many of you have attended our RYA courses with Wendy, This is an incredible opportunity to hear first-hand about her incredible adventure with Maiden.

Monday 1st November - Stephen Wilkins

Stephen Wilkins's passion captivates us with the power that daring dreams have. This is not unexpected. Like most adventurers, he is also a poet. The oceans, the high latitudes, Cape Horn, the strong winds and the big waves, the pitfalls not shown on charts, the salty foam, the albatrosses following the sailboats for days, the sea that borders the frost and desert plains of the South Pole, the Antarctic sea, all this is a part of him. All of this is Stephen Wilkins a past PSS instructor and legend of the sea.

I love Stephen quote:
"I can only encourage any person of any age to make sure that your life dreams are not forgotten or lost, life is very short and to leave things to later will probably never happen, dream the dream, then do it has been an important motto to me for years, it works, world and life discovery is there for everyone"

Join us for another amazing chat with a legend.
