Qoin Sail Paradise 2022 - Docking on millionaire's row

Southport Yacht Club's magnificent new, multi-million-dollar floating megayacht dock is destined to become the centrepiece for Qoin Sail Paradise which will be staged from January 3-6, 2022.

The dock is so large it is likely that all visiting yachts will be able to moor at the impressive facility for the duration of the event.

Costing more than $9 million and capable of accommodating mega-yachts up to 130 metres in overall length, the dock is located less than 50m from the SYC clubhouse.

Qoin Sail Paradise is recognised as the premier offshore regatta in Southern Queensland. This reputation is reinforced by the course area which has the Gold Coast's magnificent ocean beaches in the foreground and spectacular verdant hills form an impressive backdrop.

Southport Yacht Club's first ever female Commodore, and Sail Paradise enthusiast, Kerry Noyes, said: "It's not every day that you get to share the ocean up close with dolphins, dugongs and whales, but that's what you can get while competing in Sail Paradise.

"The scenery along the coast is absolutely unique while the backdrop of Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach is something special. Making the scene even more unique is that you are looking from your boat at a spectacular and growing city that sits right on the shoreline."

In another plus for Qoin Sail Paradise, it has been confirmed that Australia's best-qualified Race Director, Denis Thompson, will officiate for the SYC's series.

The appeal of offshore
Is there still appeal? Have we made it too onerous? Why would someone take it up now? I had been pondering. Yes. Marquee events have no issue attracting entrants.
