Cascais Vela - Day 2

A challenging second day of Cascais Vela for competitors and the race committee. After a foggy and windless morning Cascais Bay showed all its potential as a sailing venue.
In the SB20 class, ending its participation in the Cascais Vela 2021 Mitsubushi Challenge, a test event race for the 2021 World Championship, one more race has been completed. The race was won by the Brazilian boat "Barco Chefe", of Victor Demaison with Olympic sailors Jorge Sarif and Gabriel Borges aboard. In second place was "Open Bar" also captained by Olympic sailor Henrique Haddad, closing the podium "Shifter POR Youth Friends" of Paola Amar.
In the Quebramar Trophy, the ORC and NHC classes completed today a coastal race, with a course of 20 nautical miles. The Pedro Mendonça Trophy was won by Panther Synone of Nuno Neves. In the NHC class, the big winner was the boat from Cascais "Metralha", owned by José Vozone. In real time, the race was won by the Mirpuri Racing For The Planet Foundation.
For tomorrow, two technical races (windward/leeward) are planned for the ORC class and one coastal race for the NHC class. The SB20 class sail the training regatta for the world championship starting tomorrow.
Cascais Vela runs from 27 to 29 August and has the support of the Municipality of Cascais, Turismo de Portugal, Cascais Tourism Association, Portuguese Sailing Federation, Quebramar, Cascais Marina, Mitsubishi, Sagres, Veneziani, Simões and Gaspar, Vista Alegre and JCDcaux.
