by Real Club Náutico de Valencia 29 Aug 2021 05:38 HKT 23-31 August 2021

The third day closed the qualifying, with the fleet now divided in to gold (40), silver (40), bronze (55) and emerald (55) groups.

Locals sailors Mateo and Simón Codoñer sealed their passage to the gold group brilliantly, with partials of 2-1-2 that puts them in 6th place overall in the provisional rankings.

Finals racing runs from Sunday 29th until Tuesday 31st August.

Saturday was marked by the good wind conditions with an Easterly wind of around 7-9 knots in the three regatta areas allowing three races to be held.

There was a change of leader, with the German pair of Carl Krause and Max Georgi taking command of the fleet after scoring 1-1-7 today, which puts them on 18 points. To this, they add first place in the under 17 category. Behind them in provisional silver are the previous leaders Chloé Revil and Castilla Nell (France) achieving race results of 4-2-3 today, although they are still leaders in the women's category. In the bronze medal position are the Argentines Santiago Duncan and Tadeo Funes with 22 points, although they are on even points with the Finns Simon Karlemo and Lasse Lindell (2-6-1).

The RCN Valencia team of Mateo and Simón Codoñer climbed to 6th place in the provisional rankings and second in the under 17s with 25 points. It was a very good day and a good job from the Codoñer brothers, who are in the yellow group, achieving their best results so far in the World Cup: 2-1-2, adding their second victory in this qualifying round.
