The Real Club Náutico de Valencia starts the countdown for one of its big events in 2021, the 29er World Championship.

A regatta to be held from 23 to 31 August and will do so under strict and special health measures, given the number of registered sailors that reaches 207 representing 24 countries.

As an appetizer and prelude to this great event in the capital of the Turia, the Valencian club has launched three days of competition, although some international sailors are already at the RCNV Race Base preparing the world event, to press and know some of the three race courses planned, the wind conditions, meet some of the rivals and finish tuning their boats.

The Coach Regatta will be held from August 17 to 20, with three days of competition and nine races planned. The first day is set as registration of participants and checking of material, as well as the 27 registered boats.

An important test for the RCN Valencia in the face of this 29er World Championship and that will offer a great show in the Valencian capital, as Pedro Quiroga, Sporting Director of the Club, assures.

"Initially we were going to host the European Championship, but due to exceptional circumstances we had the opportunity to change the nomenclature and move to the World Championship. A situation that forced us to rethink many things, but the Club has always had the capacity to carry out major international regattas and this change has not been a handicap. What it does do is to increase the number of participants and this has a direct impact on the great spectacle that we are going to experience at the end of the month in the Gulf of Valencia. It also forces us, given the number of participants, to rethink all the sanitary measures, with a special plan that will be completed with the current regulations of the public organisms and those established by the federations".

For Carlos de Beltrán, manager, the world championship event "does nothing more than endorse the good sporting health of the RCN Valencia and that now goes through a good important moment as it faces the last step to host one of the most important regattas of all those held worldwide, such as the America's Cup", adding that "the 29er World Championship is one more showcase to publicize, although it is well known by all, the organizational capacity of the RCN Valencia, the race course and its magnificent wind conditions, as well as our Race Base that places the Club as one of the best 'sports stadiums'.

The 29er is the junior boat of the Olympic 49er and in Spain, after a time of "rest" has returned with force, being the RCN Valencia one of the drivers in this important recovery of the class. This, together with the important fleet of the RCN of Gran Canaria, which from the beginning has been able to maintain an exceptional level, the new incorporations of units from the Balearic Islands, mainly from the RCN of Palma, place our country as a powerful team with a high level and projection.

In this line it is worth mentioning some of the standard bearer sailors, not only from RCN Valencia, as Quicorras Urios and Filippo Benetti or the current Spanish champions, Mateo and Simon Codoñer, but also at national level as Paula and Isabel Liseca from RCN Gran Canaria; Luis Miro and Manuel Martin, RCN Palma or Sara and Isa Momplet, RCN Calpe to name some of those who will be in the 29er World Championship.
