17th Annual YRALIS Championships Regatta - PHRF and One-Design

by J/Boats 15 Aug 2021 10:25 PDT

The 17th Annual YRALIS Championships Regatta (PHRF and One-Design) was by hosted by a trio of yacht clubs in western Long Island Sound: American YC, Indian Harbor YC, and Riverside YC. Racing took place on three circles, one hosted by each club, from August 7th to 8th, 2021.

The J/88 one-design class had a nice turnout of five teams. Winning was Ken & Drew Hall's Nevermore, followed by Justin Scagnelli's ALBONDIGAS, and Kevin Marks' Velocity in third place.

In the PHRF Navigator Spin division it was Randy Bournes's J/105 Strange Brew that won their division. Taking fourth was EJ Haskell & Jim Weill's J/92 Vixen.

The ultra-competitive PHRF <32 Division saw Bill & Jackie Baxter's J/111 Fireball take the bronze medal, followed by Pito Chickering's J/11 The Roost in fourth place.

It was a clean sweep of PHRF >67 Division for J/Teams. As the local maestro in western Long Island Sound, it was not surprising to see Todd Aven's J/99 Thin Man crush it in their division, posting four 1sts and three seconds to win with 8 pts net. Second was Jason Viseltear's J/80 Upsetter and third was the Larchmont Junior Team on the J/109 Morning Glory.
