It's finally August and trainees are back on site for the World Match Racing Tour Academy.
As a special surprise, Terry Hutchinson, skipper of American Magic, will be on site to talk to trainees next Tuesday at 1pm - if you're local and vaccinated, feel free to join us! It will be our special treat to you all.
Looking back to July, two of our board members, Suzy Leech and Art Santry, made Oakcliff proud at Edgartown Race Weekend. They swept their classes- both inshore and offshore. Suzy, with co-skipper Ken Reed, won the 'Round the Island Race on their Sunfast 3300 Alchemist, while Art and crew, sailing on Temptation, won all but one race for the 'Round the Buoy racing.
2018 Oakcliff graduate Max Brennan also had a banner weekend - he and his team took the win at Governor's Cup, the international Youth Match Racing Championship in a down-to-the-wire final race. Read all about it here. Let's go team!
Meanwhile, our skiff squad completed their third camp of the summer, this time braving heavy wind and waves in San Francisco. We will be hosting more camps this winter in Florida - email Andres at if you're interested in attending!
Our staff has been also been busy on the race courses across the country. - HP Manager Andres Guerra is competing with Peter Bailey Racing in this weekend's Chicago Grand Slam, while Training Director Ethan Johnson took a trip to MD last weekend to compete in a short distance race. Read on to hear more about their adventures!
