Contest Yachts announce Cannes debut for the European Yacht of the Year 2021, the Contest 55CS

by Contest Yachts 5 Aug 2021 02:09 PDT 7-12 September 2021

Contest Yachts, the leading Dutch semi-custom sailing yacht constructor, is delighted to announce that the award-winning Contest 55CS, selected as Luxury European Yacht of the Year 2021, will go on show at Cannes in a stunning Côte d'Azur debut.

Built to the exacting standards the world has learned to expect from the best of Dutch shipyards, Contest yachts are not just beautiful and very capable, they are also among the most technically advanced for their respective dimensions, both in design and engineering. And that innovation continues in the achievement of such simple management of otherwise complex systems and levels of quietness rarely experienced in yachts this size, whether in hotel mode or cutting through a big seaway. Being semi custom-built yachts, specification from deck and cabin plans to systems, furnishings and fittings are very much to owner specification. So, no two boats need be the same. The shipyard calls it 'building dreams together'.

The award-winning 17-metre Contest 55CS brings this legacy bang up to date, advancing even further the yard's exquisitely fabricated joiner work and unique single-shot, resin infusion hulls and decks that are 100 per cent certified by Lloyd's Register, the world's leading classification and compliance authority. All part of the principle of better built boats for better safety, comfort and enjoyment.

With a variety of two- and three-cabin interiors, styled by Wetzels Brown Partners, the Contest 55CS comfortably accommodates up to six in spacious and well-appointed private quarters, with a wide choice of configurations within these.

With exterior styling and naval architecture by judel/vrolijk & co, the dual cockpit Contest 55CS is both beautiful and practical for swift yet stable and easily managed coastal and ocean sailing, and importantly in all weathers. Masters at delivering excellent performance at both ends of wind strength, judel/vrolijk & co have delivered a truly sea kindly and comfortable design for more hours under sail, and less under motor or harbour-bound, and all at impressively low angles of heel for greater onboard comfort and safety on board.

The Contest 55CS can be previewed by clicking here and will be open to view and tour on berth SAIL037 in Port Canto.
