by Michael Martin 31 Jul 2021 20:57 PDT 1530 AEST 1 August 2021

Australia's Matt Wearn will sail into Olympic history this afternoon. The Western Australian just needs to complete the Laser Class Medal Race to be assured of the gold medal, as he comes into the race with an insurmountable 22-point lead from the 10-race qualifying series.

Sailing fans can watch all the action from the Medal Race live on one of Channel 7's digital channels this afternoon, with the race scheduled to commence at 3:30pm AEST.

The race will be on either Channel 7, 7Two or 7Mate depending on which state you are in.

There is also fleet racing in the Nacra 17 (three races), Men's and Women's 470 and Finn classes (two races).

You can follow live tracking of all the races on the Australian Sailing Team website, https://www.australiansailingteam.com.au/olympics/live-tracking/
