Canadians from coast to coast to coast are invited to discover the joy of sailing, to enjoy their favourite sport and to cheer on their Canadian team at Tokyo 2020 as several events will be held on Saturday, July 31st, and Sunday, August 1st.

Held in accordance with the public health and social measures that are in place in each province due to the Covid pandemic, the first edition of the #GoSailing weekend will involve 20 sailing clubs and schools, which will stage various activities over the weekend, notably in Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario and in Quebec. The full list of events offered by clubs and schools is here.

Canadians in other cities who wish to try sailing are invited to contact one of the clubs and schools in their area around the country. The full list is available here.

Record your sailing trip and cheer on your Canadian Olympic Team

On Saturday and Sunday, all Canadian sailors will be invited to cheer for the Canadian Olympic Sailing Team by collectively sailing for a total of 1,500 hours.

This number represents the 12,000-km distance that separates Ottawa from Tokyo if one were to travel in a straight line between the two cities at an average speed of 5 knots.

Each individual sailor will be invited to record his or her time online here and Sail Canada will make frequent updates over the weekend on the number of hours logged in through its social media.

Let's go Canada and let's reach the 1,500-hour total to support our Olympic team in Tokyo!

Draw the boat of your dreams

Youngsters are invited to draw the sailboat of their dreams with the help of a downloadable boat available on Sailing for Kids page. Once it is done, parents are invited to send us their child's drawing by email at .

More info is available through Sail Canada's website at www.sailing.ca
