Forty-two teams representing 14 states took to the waters of Corpus Christi Bay for the inaugural day of the J/22 World Championship in Texas.

Unsettled conditions only permitted one race, dominated by Jeff Progelhof's Schitzen Giggles (Rush Creek Yacht Club) with crew Paul Foerster and Rod Favela. In winds between 6-8 knots, Travis Odenbach's Honeybadger placed second and Tom Meeh's Meehem in third.

Corpus Christi Yacht Club facilitated three days of seamless registration and inspection, including a practice race on Monday. Enthusiasm is running high for teams returning to World/Continental Championship racing for the first time since 2019.

Racing continues through Friday.
