With the first day's racing cancelled with excessive wind, racing got underway on Wednesday with the fleet launching into 15 knots breeze. By the time racing had got underway this had already increased to 20 knots and was continuing to increase.
Alistair Warren in Dragonfly made the most of the building conditions to extend away to lead the battle of the t-foil rudders between Glen Truswell and Robin Wood. The run would prove difficult for some with the waves bouncing back off the breakwater causing a difficult seaway for the boats to navigate. While Robin Wood fell victim to the conditions, capsizing on the run into the leeward gate, It was Chris Hampe on Monkey's Uncle who had sailed tighter angles who was now able to challenge Glen and briefly took 2nd place rounding the leeward gate before being immediately passed on the 2nd beat. With the wind continuing to increase many boats had returned to shore and the top three positions remained as Alistair Warren, Glen Truswell and Chris Hampe.
Race 2 got off with a bang as 300 yards into the race Chris Hampe was dismasted. Thankfully all the remaining boats managed to take avoiding action with Glen Truswell extending a large lead over Robin Wood. With further wind increases there was little place changes as those that had kept going were spread out along the course.
Thursday dawned with much less wind and a schedule of two triangle sausage courses followed by a couple laps around the bay for the sailing challenge cup in the long distance race. The day was dominated by Glen Truswell taking all three races with a sizable lead. Robin Wood would take two 2nd places only falling behind Alistair Warren in one of the harbour races.
The final day saw the lightest conditions of the week with the fleet back in the harbour for two trapezoid races. The lighter conditions were clearly to the liking of Robin Wood who won both races to reduce the gap at the top of the standings. Unfortunately for Robin, Glen Truswell brought the title home with two 2nd places never having finished outside of the top two positions. Local Castle Cove Sailing Club member Mike Fenwick also enjoyed the lighter conditions, two third place finishes lifted him up to 4th overall just behind Alistair Warren in third.
