Formed as a united, independent body by wingfoiling's most established brands in the summer of 2020 the goal of the Global Wingsports Association (GWA) is to represent the interests of wingsports in general and to support and promote the interests of all professional and nonprofessional wingriders worldwide.

With that, on June 9th, 2021, the GWA has established the GWA Wingfoil Race Class to house and develop wingfoil racing for professionals and non-professionals on a national, continental and world level. The wing class discipline will be governed according to the standards set out by the World Sailing Federation. This class will encompass all purely race competitions for wingfoiling.

The GWA will continue to run the Wingfoil World Tour for professional riders in the two disciplines Race (previously known as Surf-Race) and Surf-Freestyle.

The GWA Wingfoil Race Class is welcoming all wingfoil brands, MNA's and national Wingfoil Associations as well as wingfoil athletes as members.
