The C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta and Oakcliff Sailing are pleased to announce that applications are open for an invitation to the 2021 Clagett/Oakcliff Match Race Clinegatta hosted by The WaterFront Center in Oyster Bay, Long Island.

This year the Clagett/Oakcliff Match Race Clinegatta will be held September 17-19 and will be sailed in the three person Sonar which are being supplied by The Waterfront Center. Invitations will be sent to those sailors who contact Patrick Burk at to express interest in sailing.

Clagett President and Co-Founder, Judy Clagett McLennan commented, "The sailors are looking forward to returning to Oakcliff and Oyster Bay this September after a forced season away due to the pandemic. Now in its fifth year this clinic and regatta provides wonderful opportunities to the sailors where they can put the skills they have learned from the Daves during the virtual coaching clinics in 2020 and 2021 into practice on the water."

Started in 2016 and having had to be cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, 2021 will be the fifth year this clinic and regatta will be held. In 2019, Sarah Everhart Skeels from Little Compton, R.I. and her crew of Cindy Walker from Falmouth, Mass. and Spencer Raggio from Malta, N.Y. took home the top prize.

"The Clagett Oakcliff Clinegatta is the only one of its kind in the world and the only place where disabled sailors can develop solid Match-Racing skills under the tutelage of the Dave's in a competitive, safe and friendly environment. If you have ever wanted to experience Match Racing, this is the opportunity!" commented Everhart Skeels.

Returning to impart their knowledge and skills to the sailors during the three day clinic and regatta will be the coaching duo of five time National Match Racing Champion, Dave Perry, along with Dave Dellenbaugh, a three time National Match Racing Champion. Both Dave's have worked with Clagett sailors during the pandemic, hosting virtual coaching clinics. Many of the sailors will be keen to put skills learned during these sessions into action on the water.

Race Director Patrick Burks at Oakcliff Sailing commented, "We always love working with our partners like Clagett and The WaterFront Center to expand match racing opportunities to the greater sailing community."
