San Diego Yacht Club is proud to announce the biennial international yacht race from San Diego, California to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico will be held March 10 - 18, 2022. SDYC has been running the West Coast's only continuous yacht race to mainland Mexico, a tradition that began in 1953.
The 2020 Puerto Vallarta Race finished just as everyone was confronted with the life changing coronavirus pandemic. Fortunately, steps have been taken and will continue to be taken to allow the running of the race in 2022. The last event attracted almost thirty (30) entries and with the cancellations of numerous yachting events since March 2020, expectations are high for a very strong level of participation in the next edition of the San Diego to Puerto Vallarta race.
The 2020 race had participants ranging in size from the Overall Winner in the Hobie 33 Sizzle to Line Honors Winner the Botin 80 Cabron. For the 2022 race the list of competitors will continue to attract diverse entries among all sizes of boats with many of the West Coast's finest grand prix yachts participating such as the Volvo 70 Pyewacket and the new Botin 56 Bad Pak. Mark your calendars and prepare for another epic event.
