The 5th Annual Storm Trysail Club Ted Hood Regatta (named after famed Marblehead hero, America's Cup winner, National Sailing Hall of Fame Inductee, and STC member) Ted Hood, is scheduled to be a three-day regatta from August 20th - 23rd The event will be hosted by Eastern Yacht Club, in association with The Boston YC and the Corinthian YC. While Storm Trysail Club are optimistic, as befitting an organization very much focused on safety, we will also be cautious, vigilant, and closely following the state's COVID19 guidelines as they evolve.

The NOR has been posted on YachtScoring. Windward/Leeward PHRF, ORRez, One-Design, Doublehanded, and Jib And Main (JAM) classes will be offered. It is anticipated that there will be J/105, J/70, Viper 640 and RS21 one-design classes, and other classes will be accommodated if there are enough entries.

One of the unique twists to the THR is the Friday night distance race with a number of potential courses ranging from 64 to 127nm.

The regatta's roots go back to the early 1990's when it was the PHRF New England Championships, then morphed into the One Regatta, before it was re-christened as the Storm Trysail Club Ted Hood Regatta in 2017. The event is always a big draw, usually attracting between 60 - 80 boats and over 600 sailors, volunteers and spectators.

Event PRO Alan McKinnon made an additional announcement: "Storm Trysail is proud to announce that the THR has been named as the Mass Bay ORRez Championship and is one of five qualifiers for the 2021 MBSA Overnight Championship and the 2021 MBSA Shorthanded Championship. We are sure the caliber of the racing will be very high, and after last year's pandemic uncertainties, this year's edition promises to be even more exciting than usual."

Clarke Smith, representing Storm Trysail Club as the Organizing Authority (OA), thanks the sponsors "For without them, this regatta would not be nearly as large and as much fun. We are grateful to have Rumson's Rum, Regatta Craft Mixers, East Regiment Beer Company, SafeWaters Underwriting Managers, Trident Marine Managers, and Marblehead Boatyard Associates for all of their enthusiasm and support."
