IOC approves Men's & Women's Kiteboarding as Sailing's 10th Medal Event for Paris 2024

On Thursday, June 10, World Sailing was informed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that the IOC Executive Board approved Men's and Women's Kiteboarding (Formula Kite) for the Paris 2024 Olympic Sailing Competition.

The Men's and Women's Kiteboarding Events will replace the Mixed Kiteboarding and Mixed Offshore Events that were previously selected by members of World Sailing. Read the full release from World Sailing here.

Statement from the US Sailing Team in response to this decision:

"The US Sailing Team is focused on being the best sailor athletes in the world, no matter the equipment. We will be ready to compete in all 10 classes in 2024 and beyond. While we sympathize with the large and energetic doublehanded community, we welcome the kite boarders and are motivated to work closely with all of our talented athletes around the USA."
