After a tumultuous couple of years for the Pacific Northwest's most popular summer racing event, previously known as Whidbey Island Race Week, almost became Point Roberts Race Week.

But, that event was sidelined due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For the 2021 edition, it is now fully set up and running in its new location, Anacortes, Washington from June 21st to 25th - a full five days of racing in the San Juan Islands.

The One-Design fleets are looking strong this year, with J/105s, J/80s, and J/70s on the scratch sheet. For the PHRF side there are showings from a myriad of J/Boat models: J/120, J/111, J/109, J/35, J/99, J/33, J/88, J/90, J/30, and J/29. Over 50% of the current entries are from the J/Boat lineup; showing once again that the Pacific Northwest is truly J/Boat country!!

"The Port of Anacortes is extremely excited about hosting Race Week in 2021 at Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes," shares Commission Board President Ken Goodwin. "Race Week has nearly four decades of history in our area on Whidbey Island, and this partnership offers strong support for our local economy, while highlighting what a great boating community we have in Anacortes."

Dan Worra, Executive Director of the Port of Anacortes adds, "During these unusual and challenging times, we are thrilled to bring another great event to Cap Sante Marina. We are committed to safely providing the venue for a world-class regional sailing event. Race Week will spur our local economy and further defines the maritime excellence of our community."

"One top of all that, we are honored to share the news that the Pacific Coast Yachting Association has chosen Anacortes Race Week, and the J/105 class specifically, as the venue to compete for the coveted Jesse L. Carr Trophy. The Carr Trophy is a perpetual trophy that travels between four Pacific Coast districts and is designed to recognize the accomplishments of a skipper and crew in a One-Design class."

Sail Northwest and their sister company, the Seattle Sailing Club, are long time sponsors of the event and are truly humbled to see such a large showing.
